Several Chinese Super League (CSL) clubs have reportedly shown interest in signing Roy Hodgson hours after he resigned as England's manager. Hodgson resigned on Monday after England's shocking defeat against Iceland in the first knockout round of Euro 2016.

Eric Gao, chief executive of China's largest sports agency iRENA, claimed that many Chinese clubs are interested in signing the 68-year-old coach. "Lots of clubs want a world class football manager. I heard a lot are not for sale here right now. But there are many chances (for Hodgson), they would love to sign him," Gao said.

Gao claims that Beijing Guoan, Shanghai Shenhua, and Hebei China Fortune are among the Chinese clubs that have shown keen interest in working with Hodgson. Hodgson could be ideal for the CSL as clubs look to boost their investment in Chinese football with big name signings.

If Hodgson does take a job in China, then he would become third high profile manager in China. Sven-Goran Eriksson, manger of Shanghai SIPGs, and Luiz Felipe Scolari, manager of Guangzhou Evergrande, are other two high profile managers.

The Chinese Super League has been vying to sign several big name players and coaches. During the January transfer market, CSL clubs reportedly spent more money than EPL and Spanish La Liga clubs.

Chinese President Xi Jinping is widely believed to be the man behind the on-going renaissance in Chinese football. Xi is said to have a huge passion for football and has pledged to transform China into a major soccer power.
