China Launches First International Media Film Festival in Beijing

The China Internet Information Centre and the Southern Media Corporation has announced the 1st Golden Bauhinia International New Media Film Festival (GBINMFF) at the China National Convention Centre in Beijing.

According to PRNewswire, GBINMFF aims to promote innovation in terms of content, production, delivery and distribution from "All Ages, All Cultures & All Media" amid the Internet era; and to establish a healthy eco-system for new media sectors to cultivate new talents and premium productions.

"Internet injects new momentum and brings new opportunities to traditional film industry through new business models and technologies such as cloud-funding, big data, online ticketing, and VR/AR technologies," Samson Lee, CEO of STM Digital Holdings Group, co-organizer for GBINMFF, said.

He further added that the Golden Bauhinia International New Media Film Festival would unify different areas including talents, capital, production, distribution, IP management and product licensing."

GBINMFF will start accepting submissions until January next year, and its first ever ceremony is scheduled to take place either in Hong Kong or Macau in March next year.

The launching ceremony was attended by many personalities including the following: Wang Xiaohui, China Internet Information Centre's editor-in-chief; Lin Rui Jun, board member and general manager of Guangdong South New Media Inc.; Zheng Zi, screenwriter director and film producer of CCTV Production Centre of China Central Newsreel and Documentary Film Studio Group; Ma Fung Kwok, member of the Provisional Legislative Council and Legislative Council of Hong Kong; Yang Bo, China Society of Broadcasting and Television's executive vice president; Ding Yin Nan, China Grade-A film director and China Federation of Literary and Art Circle's ex-vice chairman; Xu Bolin, deputy secretary of party committee of China Film Association.
