A highly-anticipated friendly meeting between cross-city rivals Manchester City and Manchester United is set on Monday, July 25 at the National Stadium in Beijing as the second game of the 2016 International Champions Cup's China leg.

Pep Guardiola and Jose Mourinho will renew their rivalry as they face each other now with their respective new squads. Interest is definitely high on how effective the two mentors are even with most of their starters not playing.

The history between the two coaches goes back to their classic La Liga clashes when Guardiola led Barcelona while Mourinho was in charge of Real Madrid. Thus, even if playing in a friendly, no one among the two would like to lose to the other.

City was on a downward spiral during its last few fixtures with ex-manager Manuel Pellegrini as the team had been winless in six of their last seven games with the Chilean boss.

They are actually coming off a 0-1 defeat in a friendly against Guardiola's former club, Bayern Munich, on Wednesday, which marked the Spaniard's first match as head coach for the Citizens, as per BBC Sport.

Bayern's 20-year-old Erdal Ozturk scored the lone goal of the match at the 76th to hand Guardiola a disappointing welcome as City coach.

Meanwhile, Mourinho passed his first test as United manager with flying colors, scoring a 2-0 shutout over Football League Championship club Wigan Athletic at the DW Stadium last Saturday.

Second-team players Will Keane and Andreas Pereira netted the goals for the Red Devils both early in the second half.

While anticipation is elevated with the first Manchester derby to be held on foreign soil, reports of a thunderstorm in the Chinese capital city on Monday is threatening to postpone the match, The Sun reported.

The report said that 80,000 fans from all over Asia is expected to come, but "severe weather in the Chinese Capital has already damaged the pitch at the Olympic Bird's nest stadium" and the downpour is expected to last until next week.

"We are aware of the bad weather in Beijing, but also that the organizers are working very hard on getting the game to go ahead," United spokesman Phil Townsend said.

The predicted result is a 1-0 win for Manchester United.
