A single mother has defied the norm after giving birth to her second child at the age of 51.

Manhattan publicist Tracey Kahn felt incomplete after celebrating her 50th birthday. To fill the void in her life, she underwent in-vitro fertilization with a donor sperm and a donor egg for the second time to conceive her second child.

Kahn had been preoccupied with running her publicity firm and taking care of her first daughter, Scarlett. However, she still felt an overwhelming fulfillment when she finally received the news of her oncoming second daughter.

On Monday, she shared her extraordinary story to the New York Post to show women all over the world that they should not give any attention to anyone else but their happiness if they really wish to have a child in spite of what is dubbed as the 'normal' age of pregnancy.

"It's 2014 - who cares about the "traditional" order of things?" she wrote, explaining that she is a perfectly capable and successful mother despite being very busy with her 14-hour-a-day job as a publicist.

At the age of 33, she got engaged but had later called off the wedding because she realized that they had not been compatible all along--the feeling had been mutual.

Afterwards, she had little time to spend going out on dates though she had been meeting men she felt comfortable with. However, she could not seem to find her Mr. Right.

When she turned 45 in 2008, she accidentally got pregnant by a guy she had been seeing for a short time. She then decided to pursue the pregnancy regardless if the guy stayed or not.

Unfortunately, she had suffered a miscarriage after only seven weeks. She then sought fertility treatment and even considered adoption despite wanting to experience the pregnancy herself.

Since she had the money, time, and energy to carry a child in her womb, she decided to enroll for an intrauterine insemination using a donor sperm.

After five unsuccessful attempts, she moved on to using a donor egg through IVF where she had finally conceived her first child, Scarlett, who was born on May 30, 2012.
