Chinese NBL: Anhui Wenyi Bounces Back, Takes Game 2 to Even Semifinal Series One Game Apiece

After suffering a surprising loss in the series opener against the surging Henan Shedian Laojiu, the league's second top-seeded club Anhui Wenyi has leveled the playing field with a 119-82 victory in Game 2 of their best-of-five series in the semifinal round of the Chinese National Basketball League (NBL) on Wednesday.

According to Asia-Basket, former Washington Wizards player Chris Singleton led the winning team with an amazing triple-double game performance of 21 points, 15 rebounds, and season-high 15 steals along with four assists and three blocked shots. The 2011 ACC Defensive Player of the Year went 5 for 13 from the field and made a perfect 10 for 10 from the foul line in 36 minutes of playing time.

Fellow American reinforcement Manny Harris finished the game with 20 points, six rebounds four assists and three steals while 27-year-old Chinese guard Yonggang Zhang contributed 21 markers and three defensive boards for the victors.

Anhui's local players contributed a lot in taking their first triumph of the final four stage. Jian  Li chipped in with 12 points and five rebounds, while Yansong Ma and Shouwei Cun added eight points apiece.

The winning team displayed an effective defensive routine, forcing Henan to commit 31 turnovers and snatching the ball with a team-combined 20 steals during the game. Anhui's starters outgunned the opposing team's first five 73-55 and the winner's bench contributed much effectively compared to Henan's reserve players 46-27.

Henan gave Anhui players more chances to score on the foul line after giving a total of 36 personal fouls. Henan made 9 of 19 from the stripes while Anhui converted 43 of the 54 free shot awarded at the free throw line.

According to NowGoal, Anhui dominated the entire game winning all the four quarters of the match 32-24, 26-21, 27-13, 34-24.

Darius Washington paced Henan with 27 points while Eric Buchner added 11. Game 3 will be played on Friday night.
