Recent rumors are out that English club Fulham FC are interested in acquiring mercurial Shanghai SIPG striker Asamoah Gyan on a season-long loan as the Football League Championship squad is reportedly looking to upgrade their attacking options.

Fulham manager Slavisa Jokanovic is said to be "keen to land" the 30-year-old Ghana international as the Serbian head coach was "frustrated by Fulham's lack of activity in the transfer market", as per SkySports.

Jokanovic took over the reins in Fulham in December of last year and ended last season with the team almost getting relegated to Football League One, England's third tier league.

The Cottagers are currently undefeated and are at the fifth spot in the overall standings of the English second division domestic competitions with eight points in four games. They have scored six goals in the said four matches (two wins and two draws) and have allowed four goals to be scored to their side.

The report continued that the Black Stars captain "could fly in for a medical this week, although how much of his sizeable wage packet Fulham will pay will be a factor in whether a deal can be done".

Meanwhile, The Sun indicated that the 6-foot-1 Accra, Ghana native "would welcome the chance to work under" Jokanovic as he is currently struggling to find first-team time with his Chinese Super League team because of recurring injuries.

Aside from being sidelined for much of the current season, the £47 million signing of Brazilian forward Hulk is reportedly seen by Gyan as a bane to his chances of playing the lead striker role for SIPG head coach Sven-Göran Eriksson, which is why he is open to a transfer as soon as any chance arises.

Gyan was acquired by SIPG last summer from UAE Pro-League side Al Ain FC where he spent the previous four seasons. He also played for English Premier League club Sunderland AFC for two seasons, 2010-2011 and 2011-2012, appearing in a total of 37 games in all competitions and scoring 11 goals in the process.

Gyan had only appeared in 10 games for SIPG this term and was able to score three goals.
