Xiao Yang and Wang Taili have disappointed the fans for not performing 'whole-heartedly' at an international event.  One netizen even wrote that the duo had been rather shameless performing the way they did and not showcasing their real talent.

The Chopstick Brother are now being called frauds. In addition, some have commented that everything their son, 'Little Apple', stood for was a lie.

"They've lost face for us abroad," another netizen wrote.

Furthermore, the duo are said to be slated to perform earlier this week at the star-studded event in California, however, the public also stated that their dance routine was never aired.

Chinese fans were said to have been outraged after it was revealed that their performance was recorded during the commercial break and that it has not been featured during the actual program.

It has also been cited that their award was only presented backstage as opposed to how all the other awards were presented on screen. This led to speculations that the two have paid their way into getting their trophies.

'Chopstick Brothers bought an award' began trending on Sina Weibo shortly after the AMAs was aired.

The producers of the show, however, rejected the allegations and insisted that the awards was honorary and is based on the artists' popularity.

On the other hand, when asked about the issue, Xiao admitted that they have lip-synced, explaining that since they were not professional singers, they would have run out of breath singing and dancing at the same time.

Wang also explained that their dance routine had been altered in many parts during their rehearsals in order for it to fit into the schedule of the AMAs which led them to lip-sync during the event.
