Should you buy the Moto X?

Moto X, one of the best-selling smartphones in 2013, is still a good buy since it's about to get the newest Android 4.4.4 KitKat update.

What's more, Moto X will be replaced by the upcoming Moto X+1 or Moto X2 set to be unveiled in September.

PhoneArena revealed that Google can't call its next device "Nexus 6" because Philip K. Dick's family threatened to sue Google if it does so. Dick's novel "Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?" also known as "Blade Runner" called androids "model Nexus-6."

Google has no choice but to call its upcoming smartphone "Moto X."

According to PhoneArena, Google plans to launch the smartphone secretly, around Halloween. Moto X will be available at a relatively lower price, and will offer customization options that make each handset look unique.

Since Motorola is about to release a new model, it might be wise to wait it out and invest in a newer model.

Moto X specs and features make it seem a low-end model. It has a 4.7-inch display screen with 720p support.

Most newer phones in the market have full HD 1080p resolution. The Galaxy Note 4 and LG G3 come with quad HD resolution.

Moto X has a Snapdragon S4 Pro processor which is inferior to the Snapdragon 801 and 805 processors onboard newer smartphones.

With Moto G2 and Moto X+1 release date coming soon, Moto X doesn't appear to be a good buy unless there's a significant price cut.

Motorola also plans to launch the Motorola Droid Turbo for Verizon users. For people on a budget, the Desire 820 also has new features.
