Samsung Galaxy Note 4 and Note Edge Screen, Materials and S Pen Secrets

Samsung Galaxy Note Edge

Designers revealed the design factors on both the Samsung Galaxy Note Edge and Galaxy Note 4. Samsung's official blog detailed the screen display, materials and Montblanc S Pen collaboration of the devices.

The Galaxy Note Edge's extra screen and its final location were influenced by its usability. This is patterned on how people flip book pages from right to left which made its right side the first point of contact.

Another factor is the main screen's location, which is basically the main display. Most people read from left to right that's why the extra screen was placed on the right side.

The Galaxy Note Edge's revolving UX on the Edge Screen was based on how doors turn when people enter or exit a room. The flipping effect was designed to deliver various contents on the Edge Screen.

Samsung also acknowledges the customer's desire to use metal frames on Galaxy devices but the designers did not want to use metal just for the sake of using one.

The Galaxy Note 4 then used the general design Modern Sleek concept that matches the device's soft cover, as well. This includes modern edginess with metal frame and diamond cutting, soft cover for a warm and emotional feel and Togo's finest leather pattern.

The Galaxy Note 4's S Pen is also different from previous Galaxy Note S Pens. The new S Pen was redesigned to feel more natural instead of being just an accessory to open tasks and functions.

The Calligraphy pen has a natural feel and sensitivity and now has an added sense tilting ability. The S Pen can drag multiple times in a manner similar to a computer mouse.

The grip design has a pattern that makes it more usable and less slippery. Samsung also collaborated with Montblanc to add heritage to the S Pen.
