Alibaba founder Jack Ma said the company plans to launch an international version of its popular ecommerce marketplace Taobao in multiple languages.
Taobao, which is similar to Ebay and Amazon.com, facilitates retail sails between consumers by providing a platform for small businesses and individuals to open online stores that cater to consumers.

In September, Alibaba launched a regional version of Taobao, including a translation feature for major languages in Southeast Asia. Not long after the company launched, 280,000 users signed up in Singapore, and another 210,000 in Malaysia.
Ma revealed the plan on the sidelines of a meeting in China's eastern city of Hangzhou between China's Premier Li Keqiang and Chinese and foreign Internet industry leaders, reports Reuters.
Alibaba owns Aliexpress, an international e-commerce platform that focused on wholesale trading, but it does not have an international version for consumers to sell to each other.
