The San Francisco 49ers have been dealt with another massive roster blow after starting offensive tackle Anthony Davis decided to “momentarily” retire from the NFL at age 25. His reason for leaving the game at such a young age is simple: to make time and give his “Brain and Body a chance to heal,” as per ESPN’s Paul Gutierrez.

Names such as George Gervin, Bernard King, Alex English, Dave Bing, “Pistol” Pete Maravich, David Thompson, Dominique Wilkins, Tim Hardaway, Chris Webber, and Steve Nash are some that would come to mind as superstars who did not get the chance to play for the title. As for the Cavs’ Kevin Love, he clearly does not want to join the list of the NBA’s All-Star underachievers.
