Ulefone confirmed that it is releasing the Android 6.0 Marshmallow kernel of the Ulefone Future. 

The Chinese smartphone manufacturer recently announced that it is finally making the source code of its Ulefone Future model available. The announcement was made just a couple of weeks after the company released the source code of the Ulefone Metal to the public domain.

This release will surely appeal to the modding community, and will no doubt increase the phone's charm which in turn could spark demands. It is expected that within the next couple of weeks custom ROMs, like AOKP and CyanogenMod, for the Ulefone Future will be readily available for interested users, according to Giz China.

In a statement shared to its community, Ulefone wrote, "Hey guys, We have released the android 6.0 kernel code for our bezel-less device Ulefone Future for developers to do customization."

"If you are interested in this job, please either download the source code from Google Driver or edit it directly on GitHub," it continued.

The Ulefone Future sports a 5.5-inch display protected by a Corning Gorilla Glass 3 and supports 1920 x 1080 Full HD resolution. It has a MediaTek MTK6755 chipset with a 64-bit octa-core processor clocked at 1.95GHz, 4GB memory and 32GB storage space.

The Ulefone Future has a 16-megapixel rear camera with dual flash and autofocus, and a 5-megapixel front selfie shooter.

The Ulefone Future that runs on Android Marshmallow 6.0 supports dual SIM card configuration and 4G LTE network. Powering the device is 3000mAh built-in battery.
