Celta Vigo won a highly contested match against Barcelona on Sunday night.

Celta finished the match 4-3, defeating the Catalans for two consecutive years at the Estadio Municipal de Balaidos. The match was a critical loss for the Catalans as the club sunk into the fourth spot on the La Liga table, while its rival Atletico Madrid took the top spot.

Celta striker Iago Aspas played what could be his best match so far, setting up Pione Sisto's opening goal on the 22nd minute. Aspas scored a brilliant second goal on the 31st minute with left footed shot at the center of the box hitting the bottom right corner.

Two minutes after Aspas' goal, Barcelona dug an even deeper hole after Jeremy Mathieu scored his own goal, which pushed the score 3-0 before the half time.

According to BBC, Gerard Pique opened the scoring run for Barcelona with a magnificent header on the 58th minute, while star striker Neymar scored the second goal for the team six minutes later.

On the 77th minute, Pablo Hernandez scored the fourth goal for Celta and may have struck the last nail on the coffin for the Catalans. Pique scored his second goal on the 87th minute via a cross from Denis Suarez.

Barcelona won its last two games without its main star Messi. However, it appeared that the Catalan squad's luck has run out with its strikers unable to find a hole on Celta's prickly defense.

Neymar tried to play Messi's roaming role only to find himself surrounded by Celta defenders most of the time. It was only after Pique started playing the attacking role that Barcelona found its rhythm.
