San Antonio Spurs Beats Detroit Pistons in the 2016 NBA Preseason Games

The visiting Western Conference team San Antonio Spurs got the better of the East's Detroit Pistons with an 86-81 victory at the Palace of Auburn Hills on Monday in the ongoing NBA Preseason Games.

The victory was the second win for the Gregg Popovich-headed team in three outings while the Pistons suffered their second loss in two games.

NBA's back-to-back Defensive Player of the Year winner Kawhi Leonard led the Spurs with a game-high 20 points and pulled down eight rebounds along with three steals and two assists in 24:58 minutes on the hardwood. Leonard went 7 for 11 from the field and made 5 of 6 from the foul line.

The Spurs' newly acquired player Pau Gasol contributed 11 markers while LaMarcus Aldridge chipped in 10 points, posted nine boards, and three steals. Starting guards Danny Green and Tony Parker scored a combined eight points for the five-time NBA champion team.

The Spurs won the battle for the rebounds as the winning team topped the Pistons with a 47-40 advantage.  San Antonio also shot better from the three-point range compared to the host team, with the Spurs shooting 7-15 for a 46.7 percent while Detroit made 4-20 for a disappointing 20 percent shooting clip.

Andre Drummond scored 17 points and grabbed 13 rebounds to lead the Pistons while Jon Leuer finished the game with 14 points.

The Spurs will be visiting the Orlando Magic for their next exhibition game on Wednesday night while the Pistons will play Atlanta on Thursday.
