The divorce is said to be amicable, with the former couple coming to terms with who gets what. According to divorce papers, Morelli will be keeping their Lexus, apartment and sapphire engagement ring while Basilone gets to keep their Mazda hatchback.

The writer shared that working on the show and writing about its lesbian characters have prompted her to explore her own sexuality and be true to who she really is.

Morelli wrote about coming to terms with her sexuality in a piece for Identities.Mic.

She shared that one of the scenes that was pivotal to her realization was a scenein the first season of the show between Piper and her former fiance, Larry, wherein the two are forced to be honest with each other after lying for months. She said that after shooting the scene, she tried her best not to cry because she was also caught in a lie with her husband, whom she had just gotten married to.

Morelli shared that her relationship with her husband was as devoted as it could be, with him battling a life-threatening illness for most of their time together.

But working on a show that dealt with a lot of romantic relationships between women, Morelli shared that her flirtations in the past with other girls or the idea that she could be a lesbian suddenly came back to her.

"I went through it all on set: I fell in love with a woman, and I watched my life play out on screen. And now, as we are gearing up for the release of season 2, it feels liberating and appropriate to live my life in front of you," she shared.
