In a statement acquired by Extreme Tech, Qualcomm Technologies senior vice president for product management Keith Kressin said, "Using the new 10nm process node is expected to allow our premium tier Snapdragon 835 processor to deliver greater power efficiency and increase performance while also allowing us to add a number of new capabilities that can improve the user experience of tomorrow's mobile devices."

According to Engadget, the new 10nm process allows Qualcomm to squeeze in 30 percent more parts into the same space. In turn, this will give the chipset up to 27 percent yield in performance while drawing up to 40 percent less power.

Qualcomm has yet to officially confirm the details regarding the Snapdragon 835. Word around the tech community is that the chipset will have a USB-C compatible version of the company's Quick Charge 4 technology. With the transition to 10nm technology, there should be significant increase in terms of CPU and GPU computing powers, as well as power efficiency.

Right now, Qualcomm is the only major chip manufacturer that have unveiled its roadmap for the new 10nm technology. Some rumors claim that manufacturers like AMD and Nvidia are gearing up for a second-generation 14nm hardware instead and will skip the 10nm technology altogether.
