Honda's luxury car division Acura recently announced that it will once again manufacture the highly praised NSX supercar. The new 2017 Acura NSX will be the company's first gasoline-electric hybrid supercar.

Acura promised that the supercar will combine the latest in gas and electric engine technology along with the traditional looks and sports-car handling that the NSX brand is known for.

The 2017 Acura NSX will have a twin-turbo V6 engine situated on the rear. The gas engine is backed by electric motors, and together, they can generate up to 537 horsepower and 476 foot-pound worth of torque. Acura said that the new NSX will combine fuel efficiency with high-end performance.

The 2017 Acura NSX has an EPA rating of 21 miles per gallon in city and 22 miles per gallon in highway. This marks an improvement of around 17 percent compared with the previous NSX model.

In terms of design, the new NSX sports a rather low-slung and sleek body. The car has a 3.7-inch ground clearance and the cabin is wider compared with the previous model. It has a decent 42.8-inch legroom and a 38.3-inch headroom.

In terms of weight, the 2017 Acura NSX weighs around 3,800 pounds, about 600 pounds heavier compared with the previous model. The increase in weight is attributed to the electric motors as well as the lithium ion battery pack, CTV News noted.

According to Phys.org, the 2017 Acura NSX will have a starting price of $157,800 including destination charge. The price can go as much as $200,000 if all options like carbon fiber parts and carbon-ceramic brake rotors will be added.
