The Philadelphia 76ers are reportedly targeting free agents Nate Robinson and Jordan Farmar to short-term deals as the team tries to solve their current problems at the point guard position.

Philadelphia released wingman Hollis Thompson last week in an effort to create a roster spot for a point guard as the Sixers are down to only one player, TJ McConnell, at the position right now following several injuries.

Sergio Rodriguez has been nursing a sprained left ankle while Jerryd Bayless is out for the remainder of the current season after going through an operation to repair a torn left wrist ligament.

This year's top draft pick, Ben Simmons, has not yet made his NBA debut as he continues to recover from foot surgery. Sixers head coach Brett Brown told reporters earlier this season that he would consider playing Simmons at point guard when he returns from his injury.

With a lack of options at the spot, ESPN reported that the Sixers' front office is looking at "point guards Nate Robinson, Jordan Farmar, and Yogi Farrell as potential targets to sign a 10-day contract".

The team could also opt to promote a D-League point guard and have reportedly worked out with floor generals Farrell, Chassan Randle, Briante' Weber, and Cat Barber on Monday, as per the Philadelphia Inquirer.

Farrell is currently playing for the Long Island nets, Randle for the Westchester Knicks, and Weber for the Sioux Falls Skyforce. Barber is a player of the Delaware 87ers, Philadelphia's D-League squad.

Robinson last played in the NBA for the New Orleans Pelicans in 2015 before he tried out for NFL team Seattle Seahawks as a wide receiver last summer.

He did not make it in the NFL and so he signed with Israeli Basketball Premier League squad Hapoel Tel Aviv in March 2016 where he played 14 games averaging 16.2 points, 1.6 rebounds, and 2.9 assists per game.

Meanwhile, Farmar appeared in two games with the Sacramento Kings earlier this season. After signing with them in September, he was waived before the season started. The Kings re-signed him on Nov. 2 but was later released again on Nov. 7.
