The Xinjiang regional government said that contracts worth $35 billion, covering 16 sectors such as clean energy, agriculture, steel, textile, tourism, services, and manufacturing, have already been signed by 14 cities in Xinjiang.

The deals were also sealed between state-owned and private enterprises throughout China.  The total amount of agreements is three per cent higher that the amount of deals signed last year, authorities said.

11 Countries Joining for the First Time

Forty-nine countries and regions, including eleven first-timers, are participating in the third China-Eurasia Expo. The eleven first-timers include Austria, Australia, and India, said Shatyar Ablehet of the Xinjiang International Expo Administration.

The expo aims to further deepen business and investment cooperation and partnership between European and Asian countries in important fields such as transportation, telecommunication, and energy, said Expo Head Li Jinqyuan.

Activities in the said expo, which is an extension of the Urumqi fair, include the China-Eurasia Economic Development and Cooperation Forum, which allows countries to discuss issues and concerns that could lead to regional stability and growth.

So far, a total of 165 contracts for major projects were already signed.  During the previous two events, deals amounting to $12 billion were signed, or $23 billion lower than this year's deals.
