7th Forum on Global Chinese Language Media Launched in Qingdao, Shandong

At 9:00 am, September 7th, 2013, the 7th Forum on the Global Chinese Language Media, co-hosted by the Office of Overseas Chinese Affairs under the State Council of the People's Republic of China, Shandong Provincial Government, Qingdao Provincial Government and China News Service, was launched in Qingdao, a coastal city in East China.

It is reported that about 450 representatives of overseas Chinese language media and over 600 guests such as media officers of media in Chinese mainland and media experts, coming from 58 countries, attended the high-level dialogue, which aimed at the theme of "Chinese Dream - World Change and New Mission for Chinese Language Media".

Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress of China Chen Zhu attended the opening ceremony and made a speech. State Councilor Yang Jiechi sent a congratulatory message to the forum. Director of the Office of Overseas Chinese Affairs Qiu Yuanping, Vice Director of the Information Office of the State Council Cui Yuying, Qingdao's Communist Party secretary Li Qun, Shandong's Vice Governor Deng Xiangyang addressed the forum. The forum lasted for two days, including events such as High-level Forum on Chinese Language Media, Keynote Speech on China's Economic Conditions, media conference and panel discussions. A Qingdao Declaration was announced after the forum.

Forum on Global Chinese Language Media, known as the summit of leaders from global Chinese language media, is held by the Office of Overseas Chinese Affairs, China News Service and local governments every two years. Between 2001 and 2011, 6 forums have been held in Nanjing, Changsha, Wuhan, Chengdu, Shanghai and Chongqing orderly.
