With only six weeks to go before the midterm elections, independent candidate Greg Orman is threatening the Republican's hold in Kansas.

In less than two months, the question of whichever party will control the senate will finally be decided.

The conservatives will need six seats in the Senate to regain the majority; however, Orman's candidacy is threatening the GOP's plan.

Several polls conducted recently reveal that Orman, an independent candidate and business man, has tied with  incumbent Republican Senator Pat Roberts in the race for state senator in Kansas.

During a rally on Thursday, Roberts said that every Republican knows what is at stake in the race.

Roberts finds himself with Sarah Palin serving pancakes in Independence, Kansas, in an effort to shift the race in his favor.

Besides Palin, Sen. John McCain has flown in to show his support for Roberts.

McCain addressed a Kansas crown at a rally, saying Roberts is the voice of the state in Washington.

Meanwhile, Roberts explained why Orman pulled even with him in one of the reddest state in the country.

According to Roberts, Harry Reid and Claire McCaskill recruited Orman, and planned the removal of Democratic candidate Chad Taylor from the race.

"I've never seen that before," Roberts said.

Taylor stepped down from the race three weeks ago, and Republicans allege that it was done in order to give Orman a better chance of winning.

However, when Orman was asked whether he would prefer to be a part of the Republican or Democratic caucus in Washington, the independent candidate said it would depend upon the situation.

According to Orman, it would serve the voters of Kansas if he would side with the party that is in the majority.

Despite the uncertainty that Orman will side with Democrats in Washington, analysts believe they will take the chance in Kansas, which has not produced a Democratic senator since 1932.
