A seemingly ISIS copycat beheading at an Oklahoma food distribution plant wasn't an act of terror but a workplace violence issue, police and the FBI said Friday.

Fired the day before, Alton Nolen, 30, allegedly stormed into Vaughan Foods at Moore, Okla. and beheaded a former co-worker before stabbing and critically injured another food plant worker at the company office. The company CEO, who also was a Moore Police reserve officer, was wounded when he confronted and shot the suspect.

Nolen recently converted to Islam and was trying to convert others at the workplace, authorities said. However, no evidence pointed to Nolen's newly found religion figuring in the incident. Instead, authorities believed the attack was triggered by Nolen's Thursday termination.

Sgt. Jeremy Lewis of Moore Police said Nolen was angered by job-related issues. The women he attacked had nothing to do with it, but simply was at the wrong place at the wrong time, according to Lewis, who said they were the first persons Nolen saw at the plant. "He was just acting out against them," Lewis said.

Police released 911 call tapes describing the rampage as it happened shortly after 4 p.m. Thursday. Nolen first drove his SUV into the plant parking lot, striking another vehicle.

Nolen then ran into the plant office, stabbing the first woman he saw so violently he severed her head from her neck, Lewis said. The beheaded woman later was identified as Colleen Hufford, 54.

Following the beheading, Nolen stabbed Traci Johnson, 43, multiple times with the same knife, Lewis said. She was listed in stable condition at a local hospital and was expected to make a full recovery.

Michael Vaughn, Vaughn Foods CEO, heard the women's screams, confronted Nolen and shot him, bringing the rampage to an end, Lewis said. Lewis called Vaughn a hero.

As the investigation continued, Nolen was in police custody while the plant's 300 employees were back on the job.
