An Iowa couple gave a generous tip to a server at the Cedar Rapids restaurant despite the bad service.

The couple was out for their 6th anniversary and they celebrated it at one of the sushi restaurants in Cedar Rapids. The only problem was, they "sucked" at their services.

However, instead of using their social media to complain, they used it to share a picture of the receipt they had last night with the amount of tip they gave the waiters.

Surprisingly, the picture has garnered over a million views with more than 150,000 shares.

The couple, Makenzie and Steven Schultz, posted on their Facebook Page and said that it took 20 minutes for the server to give them water. They waited 40 minutes just for the appetizer and more than an hour for the main course.

The couple said that they knew people were already badmouthing the restaurant and they agreed. But they said the issue was not on the servers' poor performance but on the administration itself. The restaurant was "short staffed," according to the couple.

They also said that the server was running all over the restaurant but he never displayed his annoyance on any table. While waiting, they were able to count the tables he was serving. It was 12 and the bar.

The server ran back and forth while apologizing to each waiting table.

Then, Mackenzie realized that this used to be their story, "waiting tables." Then, the couple agreed to make the server's night a little more bearable. They decided to give him US$100 tip since they believed that he is not really getting an ample amount because of the slow service.

They left a note saying, "We've both been in your shoes. Paying it forward."

The couple walked out even before the waiter saw what they left him.

Mackenzie said they are not posting the picture of the tip just to tell other people of the grandiosity of their act but to send a reminder to everybody "to think of the entire situation, before you judge."

Lastly she said, "always always always remember where you came from."
