Los Angeles Lakers point guard Jeremy Lin has already made an impression this early in training camp, drawing high praises once again from new purple-and-gold head coach Byron Scott.

Scott, known to be a feisty player on both ends of the floor during heyday, lauded the 26-year old Lin for aggressive style of play, especially when he pushes the ball hard in fast-break situations.

"I love the way he pushes the ball in the open floor. He hasn't disappointed me at all,” Scott said in an interview with Lakers Nation correspondent Sirena Winters.

It was not the first time Scott showed his admiration for the Asian-American star. Even before he was still a candidate for the Lakers coaching gig, Scott already admitted that he really liked the way Lin plays.

"He's, I think, looking to kind of re-establish himself because of the injuries that he had last year in Houston and [he] kind of lost his way and lost his job there, and I think he's going to [come to L.A.] with a little chip on his shoulder, so I thought it was a good move," Scott said.

"Defensively - the thing that I thought was going to his biggest downfall - was something that I thought he really competed at the times I coached against him."

The 26-year old Lin averaged at least 12 points and 4 dimes per game in a backup role for Patrick Beverley with the Houston Rockets last season. After two up-and-down seasons in Houston, Lin was traded to the Lakers along with a first-round pick in exchange for a foreign-based player who gave the Rockets financial flexibility to make a run for elite free agents last summer (a coup by GM Daryl Morey which ended in futility).

With the Lakers, Lin is expected to have the opportunity to reignite his career by gaining more playing time either as a starter or a backup for two-time NBA MVP Steve Nash. Scott’s latest comment could bode well for Lin’s chance in locking up the starting spot for the Lakers, who look to bounce back from one of its worst seasons in history.
