CEO John Chen has been playing it conservative on stock measures, with the first batch of 200,000 units selling out in a few days. It might be time for BlackBerry to push their hand in the mobile industry, especially if this is the first BlackBerry smartphone to be popular in years.

Chen is apparently keeping stock limited as the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus continue to dominate the market. It is a rough time for anyone who isn't Samsung to release a phone, with Apple already taking over 10 million orders in Europe and US and another four million in China.

Analysts have warned Chen not to become complacent with the amount of orders, and should not keep buyers waiting long for the next shipment. The BlackBerry Passport could surpass one million sales before December, if manufacturer speed increases.

The BlackBerry Passport is an unusual device, compared to the iPhone and Android devices currently on the market. It has a square display, making it a lot wider than other smartphones - BlackBerry modelled the smartphone design from an international passport.

Internally, it is powered by a Snapdragon 801 processor, 2GB of RAM and offers more than day of battery life, with the 3450mAh battery. Fans of BlackBerry have become attached to their BB 10 OS, with its excellent system for sorting notifications between personal and business relations, alongside BBM.

The BlackBerry Passport is available for $599.99 off contract or $249 on contract at AT&T.
