The United States Center for Disease Control and Prevention on Saturday responded to a sick passenger on an international flight, which led to the quarantine of all other passengers, authorities said.

The flight landed at Newark, New Jersey at 12:15 p.m. from a flight travelling from Brussels, Belgium.

According to the University Hospital in Newark late Saturday, the symptoms that the man exhibited was consistent with an illness that is treatable and unrelated to Ebola.

In addition, authorities said that the man will be released after his condition is completely monitored.

In an interview with the CBS, Port Authority of New York and New Jersey spokeswoman Erica Dumas, said the CDC immediately met the plane after it landed, following reports that one of the passengers had been vomiting during the flight.

Jennifer Dohm, spokeswoman of the United Airlines, said in a statement that after the plane landed, the CDC and medical experts prevented the other passengers to alight until the sick passenger is properly assisted and looked after.

Everyone was off the plane by 1:50 p.m. and went through customs.

The sick passenger together with his daughter was then brought to the hospital to be evaluated.

The CDC's response came within days after the agency reported the first Ebola case in the U.S. after Thomas Eric Duncan, who came from Liberia, tested positive for the deadly virus.

However, after the evaluation of the sick passenger, the New Jersey Health Department removed the possibility of another Ebola case.

Late Saturday, a statement was released saying health officials, together with state and federal officials evaluated the sick patient and his daughter.

"The symptoms of one individual were found to be consistent with another, minor treatable condition unrelated to Ebola," the statement said.

In addition, it said that the daughter was "asymptomatic."
