Reports of a stomach churning stench coming from a Brisbane apartment led authorities to the discovery of the murder of a transgender woman on Sunday.

Preliminary findings reveal that Mayang Prasetyo, 27, had been brutally killed and cooked by her own husband, Marcus Peter Volke, inside the couple's Brisbane apartment.

The discovery of the grisly crime came after responding officers received complaints from neighbors regarding a foul smell, which they compared with the scent of dog food. These reports prompted the authorities to visit the home of the married couple Prasetyo and Volke on Sunday.

Upon entering the apartment, however, the police unexpectedly found Volke cooking what appeared to be body parts of a human being over the stove.

Volke, 28, then fled the scene and slashed his own throat after having been pursued by the police. Investigators are reportedly treating the case as a murder suicide incident.

Authorities described that they found Volke boiling Prasetyo's body parts when they arrived at the scene. The other parts of the body had been located scattered around the apartment, which the couple shared following their matrimonial union.

Investigators found that Prasetyo had been a "high-class" transsexual prostitute from Indonesia who reportedly used her earnings to send her younger siblings to school. In a report from the Courier-Mail, the murdered sex worker charged up to $500 an hour in exchange for her services as a "top high-class Asian shemale".

Another advertisement featuring Prasetyo showed that the victim offered her services as an "international escort" for amounts ranging from $200 to $500.

"Better in real life. Pictures are always real. Real deal pre-op functional hot TS. With a great fit and hot body to enjoy," another ad for the 27-year-old stated.

According to the friends of the couple, Prasetyo married Volke in 2013 after meeting on a cruise ship. She then moved to Brisbane with her husband. The modern Teneriffe home of the couple, which they resided in for three months, signified that the two might have lived comfortably.
