Entertainment news website TMZ said, they were told that Grant was advised by her lawyer that it was legal to secretly record the conversation. California state laws allow people to secretly record conversations so long as these recordings will show that the person being recorded has committed a violent felony --- Unfortunately for Collins, molesting a child below the age of 14 qualifies as a such.

In the recordings obtained by TMZ, Collins is heard confessing to the molestation of an 11-year-old girl from New York, who will remain unnamed, the young girl happens to be a relative of his first wife.

The actor is heard saying "There was one moment of touching her hand, where I put her hand on my penis". He is also heard acknowledging that he had exposed himself to the same girl "A couple of times", the incidents occurred when the victim was 11, 12 and 13 years old.

The NYPD is in possesion of a copy of the tape and that two NYPD dectectives have flown to L.A. to interview Grant about the tape and potential witnesses.

An NYPD official stated that there is an active investigation on the matter, there are at least 3 victims and that the investigation is being treated as "Inappropriate sexual contact with minors"
