New Ebola Patient

(Photo : Akron Public Schools) Amber Vinson, 29, an Akron, Ohio native, is the second Dallas nurse diagnosed with Ebola after caring for Thomas Eric Duncan.

Relatives and friends of a second Dallas nurse who tested positive for the Ebola virus are being interviewed and some quarantined, after it was determined that she flew from Dallas to Cleveland, Ohio, and back, days after caring for Thomas Eric Duncan at the Texas Presbyterian Hospital. She flew back to Dallas on Oct. 13, and a day later was diagnosed as infected with Ebola.

The nurse, now identified as Amber Vinson, 29, had boarded her return flight even when she had a 99.5 degree fever, the Cleveland Department of Health reported.

Health authorities are now interviewing family members in Ohio. They are also locating people who flew with the nurse to Ohio on Wednesday last week, and on the return flight on Monday. Vinson hails from the Akron area and went home during the weekend to prepare for her wedding. She lived alone in Dallas.

Officials in Dallas said Vinson has extensive contact with Duncan, the man who died of Ebola at the Texas Health Presbyterian hospital. Medical records show the Vinson inserted catheters, drew blood, and dealt with Duncan's body fluids as part of the team that cared for the Liberian national who brought Ebola to the U.S.

Family members say Vinson has two degrees from Kent State University in Cleveland, where her mother and two other relatives worked. From 2007 to 2012, Vinson worked at the Summa Akron City Hospital where she was assigned at the intensive care unit.

Vinson will be flown to Atlanta for treatment at Emory University.
