The first Snapchat ad has officially arrived. Can you guess it?

It's the 20-second trailer of the upcoming horror movie, Ouija, and clearly marked, sponsored. The movie ad was from Universal Pictures and was sent to Snapchat users' "Recent Updates" feed, a place where their contacts' messages appear.

The ad will be available for viewing on Snapchat within 24 hours before it totally disappears. It will only play when users press their screen, just like viewing any other messages.

On Friday, the popular messaging app announced that its first ad would arrive over the weekend and now it happened. The company's move to include ads on their app is part of the plan to generate more income from its 100 million users.

“Understandably, a lot of folks want to know why we’re introducing advertisements to our service. The answer is probably unsurprising – we need to make money. Advertising allows us to support our service while delivering neat content to Snapchatters,” Snapchat wrote in a blog post.

The Ouija movie is a youth-targeted horror film which will be shown starting October 24. It's an advantage for Snapchat to feature this movie trailer because it is popular among young adults.

Although Snapchat already informed its users beforehand about the upcoming ads, it still came as a surprise. Twitter users who are also on Snapchat vent out their reaction with the Ouija ad and it ranged from excited to confused to disappointment.

Earlier this year, Facebook has also launched an autoplay promo video ad of the movie Divergent from Lions Gate Entertainment.
