Amidst media and politicians sensationalizing threats such as Ebola and ISIS, Americans tend to ignore larger and more challenging hazards that may directly affect their lives.

According to Vox, a Fox news poll recorded that 50 percent of the population fear terrorist threats from the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) while some 27 percent fear the spread of the Ebola virus.

In turn, Vox published a list of "a highly un-scientific and incomplete ranking of threats to the United States" arranged based on the current danger it poses to Americans.

Surprisingly, at the bottom of the list is an Ebola outbreak which has been deemed to pose only "moderate" danger to the public because of its means of transmission that requires direct contact with a person infected with the disease.

According to reports, Ebola is transmitted via an infected person's bodily fluids such as saliva, blood and vomit. Unlike other diseases, Ebola cannot be transmitted by air.

To prevent its spread, direct contact can easily be remedied by using Hazmat suits or protective gear when dealing with an infected patient.

Meanwhile, terrorist threats brought by the ISIS terror group is deemed at the bottom half of the list with an "extremely low" threat to the U.S. as they seem to have not demonstrated any capacity to launch an attack against the nation which has already beefed up its defenses beginning in 2001.

At top four is climate change which has been deemed to be a "potentially dire" threat to Americans as greatest harm seen might be in a form of devastating weather conditions such as droughts, heat waves, and flooding as well as a high probability of the rise in sea levels that would majorly affect coastal cities.

Believe it or not, the top three threats to Americans include guns, traffic incidents, and health-related causes with heart disease and cancer tying for the top spot after both had been deemed responsible for more than 50 percent of American deaths.
