Buildup for Taylor Swift’s new album 1989 began in August, it was also the time wherein she made a huge announcement saying that her fifth studio album would be her very first documented “Pop Album”.
The announcement made it seem as if a miracle had taken place to authenticate her crossover to Pop from country. This was not the first time Swift dabbled in Pop, she released the Dubstep hit “I knew you were trouble” on her “Red” album which was released in 2012.

1989, is actually the year of the singer’s birth, thus this seemed like the second coming or second birth of the singer, seeing as the album is wholly pop.
The first single that was released was the sassy collaboration between Taylor and Max Martin entitled “Shake it off”, the aim of the single was to show everyone a new side of Taylor that no one has ever seen before, including the twerking and the brief rap interlude that Taylor did on the song.
The downside to the new album is that the essence of Taylor has vanished, there are no more ballads about country singers, no more songs about the first day of school and no more guitars.
But, she made up for this by collaborating with chart-topping producers and writers such as Martin, Shellback, Jack Antonoff and Greg Kurstin, who we assume was responsible for the Lana Del Ray vibe we hear in some of the songs.
Fortunately, even though the music genre is not what were are used to with Taylor, she did not lose the signature “This album is my diary” thus making the departure from country not much of a departure at all.
