46-year old actor Hugh Jackman has again been diagnosed and treated for basal cell carcinoma. This is the performer's third time to undergo surgery for the disease.

Basal cell carcinoma is a type of common skin cancer that is usually very treatable. However, those who do not get treatment right away may suffer eventual disfigurement.

Five basic symptoms of basal cell carcinoma are open sores, reddish and irritated patches on the skin, shiny bumps or nodules, pink growths and, scar-like areas.

The Australian actors's rep shared with E! News that after recently receiving treatment for his cancer, the performer is "all good" now.

Jackman was first treated for basal cell carcinoma in November 2012. His second treatment was done in May 2014. For both occasions, the cancerous tissue that was discovered and consequently removed was from his nose.

Following his previous bouts with skin cancer, the actor became very vocal about protecting the skin from potentially fatal UV Rays. UV rays from the sun can cause mutations in skin cells.

On Monday, the actor took to Instagram to post about his cancer, saying that although he is optimistic about his prognosis, he knows that he will have to constantly keep tabs on the state of his skin and, he will more likely be needing more surgery in the future.

In an interview with the Associated Press in May, Jackman shared, "[Skin cancer] is not uncommon for an Aussie particularly from English stock growing up in Australia where I don't remember ever being told to put sunscreen on."

He said that fortunately, his type of cancer is preventable and, is all about getting checked on a regular basis. And although he can be a typical man who can be lazy about seeking medical attention, he shared that his bouts with skin cancer has prompted him to not be lazy at all.
