Last summer, the 24-year-old Dane told her father and support team that she would be running the marathon which they all thought of being crazy as they don't know how Wozniacki could fit her training in her busy tennis schedule.

In fact, up until the marathon, Wozniacki has never run above 13 miles, which is half of the 26.2-mile course through the borroughs of New York City.

"I think you need to be a little crazy," Wozniacki said Wednesday, "but in a good way."

Wozniacki's good friend World No. 1 tennis player, Serena Williams was emotional as she greeted her at the finish line.

Williams even posted on her Twitter account saying "Is it normal crying when someone finished marathon. So proud of you Caro."

The U.S. Open finalist's finishing time actually qualifies Wozniacki for the 2016 Boston Marathon which she said, she won't be competing in any marathon for a few more years.

Regardless of the difficult coniditions, Wozniacki admits that it was even harder when a crew of cameramen are following her and that she could not walk after she reached the 20-mile mark at First Avenue.

"I've never tried anything this hard," Wozniacki said. "This was the toughest physical test I've ever (had). It's so hard. You have to keep going, keep going. Once I got onto First Avenue, I had a camera crew following me the whole day, so I couldn't walk. I had to keep running."

Wozniacki actually ran the last mile in 7:15 which was 38 seconds faster than her pace and proves that the extra motivation works once you see the finish line or a handful of media men are filming you as you cross the finish line.
