The more asked question these days is what's running your handset rather than what's the brand of your phone. There are many reviews out there, trying to figure out if iOS, Android and Windows Phone is the best platform to power-up your smartphones.

According to reports, the iOS 7 has been the best platform since 2007. Meanwhile, Google has just released the Android 5.0 Lollipop.

The latest iOS 8.1.x reflects Apple's elegance and simplicity. It only has a single home button with no back keys and less ability to change settings but there are a lot of useful apps in the iOS.

Apple is walled and closed for consumer security while OS X Yosemite needs to be installed or have a TouchID device such as the iPad Air 2, iPhone 5S or iPad Mini to benefit from the operating system.

Most iOS features are said to be ripped from Android. The best new feature could be its Extensibility which lets third-party apps connect and share data instead of being sandboxed from each other unlike in past iOS releases.

Its pedometer app shares calories burned with a food tracking app and a third-party picture app could offer its filters to the iOS Photos app as well. Extensibility also lets third party apps install extensions in iOS Safari so a user can access a Bing Translate button in the browser's share sheet and instantly translate a whole web page.

Other new features include the HealthKit API and Health app. HealthKit API lets health app developers pipe health data through an app called "Health" in the iOS.
