Taiwanese singer Ella Chen, who hosted the recently concluded 51^st Golden Horse Awards, is currently immersed in controversy after netizens dubbed her unprofessional and overly comical during the prestigious event.

Last Saturday, November 22, Chen hosted the prestigious 2014 edition of the  Golden Horse Awards for the first time this year and is said to have specially put in effort to keep her body fit for her performance in the opening of the ceremony. However, despite everything she has done to keep a good appearance, she is currently being criticized by netizens due to her alleged unprofessional and comical behavior at the event.

Netizens were not happy about the outcome of her hosting skills during the awards ceremony. They have claimed that the singer kept on mentioning her husband, Alvin Lai. Other have also complained about the singer acted on stage, claiming that she acted funny while hosting the event. Netizens have claimed that she should have matched her behavior to the prestige that the awards ceremony stands for.

The S.H.E. member was also criticized for being unprofessional for imitating Taiwanese model-actress Lin Chi Ling's 'hug of love' in reference to last year's awards night wherein Lin hugged both Andy Lau and Tony Leung in order to encourage them.

Despite people putting the singer down, other netizens have also shown their support for her, saying that she had been genuinely adorable while on stage.

Her husband, Lai, also encouraged her, taking to his Weibo account to sing his praises for Chen. He wrote, "Wifey, you've done well. Your seriousness and hard work gave us an unforgettable night."

On the one hand, during the event, her co-host, Huang Zijiao, challenged her first musical performance and is said to have even passed up on an offer to film a Chinese movie just to attend said event. Chen, who was designated to host the awards ceremony for the next two years, has also had six costumes made in total.
