NBA Rumors: Kevin Love to Test Free Agency in 2015, Won't Re-Sign with Cavs

It's only been a month into the 2014-15 NBA season, but there are already rumors that Kevin Love will not be sticking around for the Cleveland Cavaliers past this season.

Cavaliers' fans received bad news when NBA insider and CBS Sports writer Ken Berger released an interesting update on Kevin Love in his report on Monday.

"While rival GMs recognize that it's almost unfathomable that James would ever leave Cleveland again -- how could he, given the reasons he expressed for returning -- They don't have the same confidence that Love is just as locked in," Berger said.

Following the CBS report and Cleveland's struggled 6-7 start to the season, many fans and media outlets are already speculating that Kevin Love - who's contract with Cleveland will expire after this season - won't re-sign with the Cavaliers next summer and will instead look to test the free agent market.

Sports media site Bleacher Report mentioned that if Love does indeed decide to leave Cleveland, then the Los Angeles Lakers would be the most likely destination for the All-Star power-forward. Love played college basketball for UCLA and has already expressed his interest with the Lakers in the past.

Love's stats have dropped significantly with the Cavaliers compared to previous seasons. He's currently averaging 16.2 points, 9.8 rebounds and 2.6 assists. Last season with the Minnesota Timberwolves, Love averaged 26.1 points, 12.5 rebounds and 4.4 assists.

It's not necessarily due to bad performances, but mostly because he's playing next to superstar LeBron James and All-Star Kyrie Irving - both players who strive with the basketball in their hands - which leads to limited touches. Love averaged 18.5 shot attempts last season, whereas this season he's only shooting the ball about 12 times per game.

It's possible Kevin Love would rather be the face of a franchise and be the go-to guy for the Lakers while playing in the comfort of the state he was born in. But it's still too early to know for sure what Love is planning on doing next summer. The Cavaliers could very well turn its season around once the players play more games and start building chemistry on the court with each other.
