Mrs. Obama says that more than anything else, Thanksgiving is about honoring the service of military men and women who have gone to their rest and whose families are celebrating the season without their loved ones at home.

"It's easy to get lost in the food and the fellowship, but Thanksgiving is a time for reflection," Michelle Obama mentioned.

The president shares the same sentiments. He says that most of his free time during the holidays is spent calling deployed military officials just to extend his gratitude for their sacrifice.

"It's a great idea for every American, everyday, but especially during the holiday season," said Obama further as he talked about how randomly saying "Thank you" to a service men can brighten their day and make them feel exceptional.

The couple also shared their previous Thanksgiving gatherings and talked about some of their favorite Thanksgiving food. The president joked on how the First Lady won't even allow him to share her dessert. Mrs. Obama teasingly answered how the president can engorge everything in a single bite, hence her played selfishness.

The couple talked about how pies play an important role in the Obama dining table during Thanksgiving.

"We all go out in pies. We don't play with pies," said the President to Roberts as the interview ended.

This year, the White House is having six kinds of pies for Thanksgiving and the man of the house has always preferred pumpkin.
