"Independence Day" in 1996 marked the triumph of sci-fi thriller in the box office.  Fans of sci-fi movies have their dreams come true with the recent update on the sequel, and countdown could start now as well as imaginative minds could also start conceptualizing on how the action-filled film will once again spell disaster, thrill and drama, in the same manner that "Independence Day" in 1996 rocked the theatres.

Set to premiere on June 24, 2016, Fox said that production will start as early as May 2015.  Fans will certainly hang on for the trailers, teasers and bits and pieces of the plot that may accidentally slip to the media or the internet.

Fox is now into negotiations with the former director of the film's prequel, Ronald Emmerich, to man the productions. He has proven his worth in the first instalment; hence, no other could be a better choice than him if Fox wants to ensure that everything will go smoothly as planned. Considering his knowledge and grasp of the previous one, it is safe to let him handle the job again this time.

There are reports that Will Smith will not be assuming his lead role on the second instalment. The script has been prepared already and the characters will be finalized the moment a deal has been confirmed with Roland Emmerich. So fans, keep yourselves updated on recent developments, from the members of the casts to trailers until the film reached the theatres.

The Hollywood Reporter revealed that "Independence Day" producer Dean Devlin shared updates on his Twitter account, Wednesday, that Harald Kloser, himself and Roland Emmerich will be producing the film.
