"As much as I have loved doing the show, I cannot bring myself to rule out another presidential run," Fox News quotes Huckabee.

But he is not ruling out appearing on the network as a guest, not as staff. Huckabee describes his stint with Fox as a "ride of the lifetime" and that he never had so much fun in his life.

The politician plans to use the time from his leaving Fox until he makes a final decision to talk with potential donors and supporters and study if he has enough support to bring him to the White House.

Although he got support in the Iowa caucuses in 2008, he quit the presidential primary in the Republican Party in March. A few months after Huckabee's first presidential campaign ended, he joined Fox News in 2008 when he was given a popular weekend night program.

For six years, he had hosted the show, but Fox has a policy of ending business relationships with commentators if he intend to run for office or form committees that explore the possibility of a run.

"I agree with Fox, that this the right thing and now is the right time," Washington Post quotes Huckabee.

Huckabee is slated to speak in January at Freedom Summit, an event sponsored by Rep. Steve King and Citizens United, on January 24 at Des Moines. The next day, he will be at Cedar Rapids as part of his book tour. Iowa is his testing ground for the presidential primaries. He leads in the state's caucus.

According to CNN, supporters of Rep. Rand Paul are the ones buying advertising space in Google searches for the Huckabee announcement.
