Clinton also wrote that the two leaders and her met again in May of 2012 where she noticed that Hu was an aloof leader.

In her book, Clinton described the former Chinese leader to be a cautious man. She also wrote that Hu was someone she couldn't get straight answers from and that he always had to consult lower level officials.

On the other hand, the former US first lady wrote that the premier Wen Jiabao was a man of the people. She referred to him as Grandpa Wen and added that he could be very demanding.

Clinton also recalled Wen saying during a private meeting that the US should take full responsibility during the worldwide financial crisis.

She also described her personal ties with former Chinese state councilor Dai Bingguo and ex-foreign minister Yang Jiechi. Clinto, and wrote that she and Dai were on friendly terms and contacted each other for a number of years. She wrote that Dai gave her mother and daughter gifts and that she also gave Dai's granddaughter presents in return.

However, Clinton's description of Yang Jiechi is far off from Dai's after she wrote that the former foreign minister of China was an unapologetic nationalist.

On the flip side, former US secretary of state Henry Kissinger maintained close ties with Zhou Enlai, Mao Zedong, Deng Xiaoping and other leaders in China unlike Clinton who wrote she had a hard time getting straight answers from the former Chinese president and the then premier.
