Two more women were found hanged on trees in Uttar Pradesh, India, while another alleges that she was gang raped in a police station, Sky News reported.

A 19 year old girl was found on Thursday hanging from a tree and "strung up" by her dupatta (long scarf) in a village in Moradabad, according to senior police superintendent Ashutosh Kumar.

The report was first filed by the girl's brother against some unidentified persons, claiming that his sister was murdered.

A day before the teen was found, a 45 year old woman was also discovered to be hanging from a tree.

Relatives of the woman believe she was raped and murdered. The woman's husband claimed that she was targeted for the attack while on her way home in Bahraich district after she had tried to stop the sale of alcohol in the area.

According to district superintendent Happy Guptan, 4 of the 5 suspects are now in custody and are being interrogated.

Meanwhile, a woman from Hamirpur, Uttar Pradesh, claims she was gang raped by police officers while trying to secure her husband's release. The police officers had raped her after she had refused to give them money for a bribe, she said.

"At 11:30 p.m. when there was no one in the room, the sub-inspector took me to his room and raped me inside the police station," the woman told media.

Authorities investigating the case revealed that the woman had filed a complaint against the sub-inspector and 3 other police officers.

Last month, 2 girls from Katra village aged 14 and 15 were gang raped and found to be hanging from trees. The incident had elicited public outrage and caused India's national women's rights groups to call for the resignation of Uttar Pradesh chief minister Akhilesh Yadav for his poor handling of law and order in the area, Fox News has learned.

India's National Commission for Women head Mamata Sharma had referred to Yadav's failure as "shameful."

"They not only fail in protecting their women but they don't even have the police in their control," she told reporters.

According to local police, some 10 rapes are occurring everyday in Uttar Pradesh. Official figures report 25,000 rapes occur in India every year. This can roughly translate to at least 2,000 rapes per month. Women's rights advocates, however, claim that actual figures may be higher since victims are more often discouraged by their family to report such incidents.
