Erica Morales Gives Own Life for Long-held Motherhood Dream

The quadruplets born to first-time mother, 36-year-old Erica Morales, are doing well at the Banner Good Samaritan Medical Center in Phoenix, Arizona.

Unfortunately, Morales did not survive the childbirth via Caesarian section and never got to see or hold her four babies, made up of three girls and one boy.

Morales, a real estate agent, was in her seventh month of pregnancy when she was rushed to the hospital because of elevated blood pressure, but ended up delivering her babies two months ahead of schedule.

Morales and husband Carlos, an employee of a manufacturing company, have been attempting to have a baby for two years and tried a variety of solutions such as acupuncture and fertility treatments. She even had a miscarriage, but got pregnant in June.

Morales shared her pregnancy journey on social media. Her last posting on Tuesday, after her doctor gave Erica medication to help the lungs of the fetuses inside her tummy mature, reads: "Sometimes you just have to sit back and thank God for blessing up to this point and put it fully in his hands."

Nicole Todman, best friend of Morales, said Erica was still unconscious when she was wheeled out of surgery. She added the newborns still have tubes in their mouths and nose as well as little monitors and wires since they were born two months premature.

Because they just weigh between 2 and 3 lbs., they would need to stay for at least two months or until they reach the ideal weight of 5 lbs.

To help Carlos with the expenses bringing up four babies on his own, Todman opened a fund-raising website, GoFundMe, on Friday which has so far raised $19,000 from 600 donors.

Her aim is to raise $50,000, which has good chances since the webpage has been shared 17,000 times.
