Microsoft Debating Android Integration On Windows 10

Microsoft has announced its endorsement of asm.js technology.

Microsoft will bring all three of its Windows platforms (8, RT and Phone) to one solidified platform with Windows 10, but the app situation might still be an issue.

In order to beef up the marketplace for Windows 10 launch, Microsoft is internally debating whether to port Android apps over to Windows mobile devices.

It is a familiar tactic used by BlackBerry and Jolla on Sailfish OS, allowing the platform to utilize some of the 1.3 million apps on the Android marketplace.

Microsoft has previously backed away from Android integration, due to Windows Phone being a closed platform, however the software giant might be in dire straights to get its marketplace looking fresh before the big Windows 10 launch.

Android ports to another operating system are never perfect, and Microsoft will still push developers to create native applications, but for those who do not want to spend time on a mobile OS holding 2.7 percent share, it might be a viable option.

It is not entirely clear how much separation the mobile platform will have from the desktop. Microsoft is porting over virtual assistant Cortana to the desktop, and it looks like multiple features will be available on both platforms.

Microsoft will unveil the consumer version of Windows 10 on January 21. It will reportedly include a new Xbox App allowing PC gamers to play Xbox One exclusives - removing the need to call them "exclusives" - on a new store.
