"The road has become unbearable; it’s become unapproachable, because it takes so long to get anywhere," Clapton said in the interview. "It's hostile – everywhere: getting in and out of airports, traveling on planes and in cars."

He also that he lost the love he used to have for touring and commented that most of the countries today are a ‘different version of America’. The world according to him feels too similar now.

It is most likely that he will spend more of his time on studio works and his ‘odd ailments’ may prevent him from playing the guitar.

“There are tons of things I'd like to do, but I'm looking at retirement too," he said.

Clapton told the British magazine that he will allow himself to do within reason and carry on recording his music in the studio. He said he doesn't want to be at a point in which he will be embarassing himself.

The hint of Clapton’s retirement on touring is not new. In 2013, he said in an interview with Rolling Stone that he will stop touring when he reaches age 70. Fans, however, were still assured Clapton will not stop playing one-offs."

Earlier this week, Clapton was booed after leaving his performance of Cocaine unfinished at the Hydro arena in Glasgow. He left the stage for no fault of his own and was attributed to faulty technical considerations. The legendary guitarist quickly apologized to his disappointed fans.
