Singer-songwriter Beyoncé dominated the 2014 BET Awards Sunday night by bagging three awards including the 2014 FANdemonium award which was voted on by viewers.

Pharrell Williams and August Alsina nabbed two awards each.

The Best Female Hip Hop Star award went to Nicki Minaj, who commended herself for writing her own music in her acceptance speech.

On the other hand, Drake won over Jay Z as the Best Male Hip Hop Star.

For Best Movie, "12 Years A Slave" was chosen, and its stars Lupita Nyong’o took home the Best Actress award while Chiwetel Ejiofor won as  Best Actor. BET awards honored Lionel Richie with the lifetime achievement award.

One memorable moment of the awarding ceremony was when host Chris Rock tried to one-up 2014 Oscar host Ellen DeGeneres by passing out chicken and waffles from L.A. favorite.
