Canadian star and 13th seed Eugenie Bouchard defeats Frenchwoman Alize Cornet, and now awaits who will win the quarterfinals match between Sharapova and Kerber of the 2014 Wimbledon Championships.

Bouchard, 20, only took two sets to win against Cornet, but it did not come easy with scores of 7(7)-6(5) 7-5. Cornet is the Championships biggest upset winner after defeating No. 1 seed Serena Williams.

"She's a good fighter," said Bouchard after the game. "We were really battling and we had a tough tie-break."

"I'm proud that I stayed in it. Even though I was playing catch-up, I always felt right there, trying to put pressure on all the time."

The win over Cornet is Bouchard's third quarterfinal appearance in three straight Grand Slam tournaments. The first one at the Australian champion where she faced China's Li Na who went on to win the title; and the second is the French Open where she went up against eventual winner Russian Maria Sharapova in a three set match, where she won the first set and almost won the second set at 5-7.

"I've learned a lot this year since Australia," she said. "The main thing is the confidence I've added since the beginning of the year. I believe in myself and I've proved to myself I can play on the big stage. I've played on centre courts, most of the Slams, big moments, big matches. I'm proud of the way I can handle it."

The semis would most likely be the same at Wimbledon if 5th seed Sharapova will face 9th seed German's Angelique Kerber.

Although Sharapova has won most of their matches together in the past, Kerber has defeated Sharapova before at the 2012 Open GDF Suez in straight sets and eventually winning the tournament, her first major title, against reigning Wimbledon champion Frenchwoman Marion Bartoli.
