Convicted match-fixer Wilson Raj Perumal denied Tuesday the report published in a German weekly in which he allegedly accused the Cameroon team of selling their game against Croatia.

Perumal, a fraudster sent to two years in prison for fixing games in Finland, predicted the results of the June 18 match in an interview with Der Spiegel hours before the game.

According to the Der Spiegel's story, Cameroon would lose to Croatia by four points and that a player would be red-carded in the first half, which exactly what happened when Cameroon was beaten 4-0 and midfielder Alexandre Song was sent off before halftime for elbowing Croatian striker Mario Mandzukic.

But in an online statement, Perumal countered Der Spiegel's claim saying that "The Facebook chat with the Der Spiegel journalist took place a few days after the match -- June 21 -- as confirmed by my Facebook log."

His representative sent CNN two screen shots of the Facebook exchange, in which the match fixer talked of "black sheep" and "rotten apples" within the Cameroon team.

Both screen grabs show dates consistent with Perumal's claim that the interview happened days after the Cameroon-Croatia match and not hours before as the German publication claimed.

"At no time did I make reference to four goals being scored or to a red card being issued," he said explaining that he was making an educated guess based on his extensive match-fixing experience.

"Last but not least: at no time was I informed by the Der Spiegel journalist that our chat was going to end up in the German publication."

Der Spiegel and journalist Rafael Buschmann issued statements in which they confirm their confidence on their reporting of the story.

FIFA, the World Cup governing body, refused to comment Tuesday on the alleged manipulation in the June 18 match, while Cameroon has pledged to investigate on the match-fixing claims among their players.
