Miami Heat's Dwyane Wade has been forced out of the National Basketball Association's (NBA) All-Star game this weekend due to a hamstring injury. He is replaced by Atlanta guard Kyle Korver.

The 33-year old Wade has missed a total of 16 games this season due to a variety of injuries. His hamstring injury, the most recent of his injuries that he has been battling, has kept him from playing in the Heat's past six games.

He is also expected to sit out in a reunion with former teammate Lebron James, as the Heat and Cleveland Cavaliers clash on Wednesday.

Wade's presence with the Heat would have been welcome though, as the Cavaliers are on a red-hot winning streak as of late.

In an interview with the Associated Press, Wade admitted that he thought this was the best course of action.

"I wasn't going to play much either way. I think with the circumstances, I think the smartest thing to do is let someone else come in and really enjoy the All-Star experience."

Wade also said that he owes it to the Heat fans to play in a Heat jersey first before playing in an All-Star Game for a couple of minutes.

With 31 games left to play, the Heat is only one game ahead of the Brooklyn Nets for the eighth seed in the Eastern Conference.

NBA Commissioner Adam Silver revealed that Korver will be stepping in to enjoy the All-Star experience for himself.

He joins his Eastern Conference-leading Hawks teammates, guard Jeff Teague and forward Paul Millsap and Al Horford.

Wade is not the only superstar who will be sitting out in the games though.

Los Angeles Clippers forward Blake Griffin will be replaced by Portland Trail Blazers guard Damian Lillard, while Sacramento Kings big man DeMarcus Cousins takes the place of Kobe Bryant.
