The CEO of PepsiCO, Indra Nooyi, raised eyebrows this week at Aspen Ideas Festival when she stated in a candid interview that she doesn't believe women can "have it all."

The mom of two was referring to the persistent belief that women can juggle the dual roles of having a successful career and being a great mother and family woman.

However, according to Nooyi, this ideal simply isn't attainable.

"I don't think women can have it all. I just don't think so. We pretend we have it all. We pretend we can have it all," the highly-successful CEO stated.

Nooyi then went on to say that if someone asked her daughters whether or not she was a good mother, she wasn't confident they would say "yes."

Nooyi also opened up about the coping mechanisms she uses to deal with not being in her children's life, explaining that after he daughter consistently called her out for not attending school functions, the 58-year-old mother allegedly asked her daughter's school for a list of parents who also missed out on activities.

When she learned that there were other mothers who were not there, she told her daughter "I'm not the only bad mother".

The question of whether or not women can "have it all" has been persistent lately with Today show host Matt Lauer being called out as sexist just last week for posing a similar question to General Motors CEO Mary Barra.

Those fighting for gender equality see questions like these as disturbing as they are more often than not aimed at women who have been successful in their careers as opposed to men.

Many argue that demands on male CEOs and businessmen to prove themselves as 'good' family men should be just as prevalent as the pressures placed on women.
